Job Description:
United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN HABITAT) in partnership with Ministry of Environment is implementing a project on Provision of Water & Sanitation in selected urban poor communities in informal settlement of Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP and Sindh through gender mainstreaming and empowering local governance. The project will be implemented in close collaboration with other UN agencies like UNICEF, UNIFEM and WHO. Following are the specific objectives of the project
1. To identify and clarify issues related to women’s access to water in informal settlements;
2. To improve the capacities of the local authority to provide access to water for women in informal settlements, and to empower women in the decision-making process through gender responsive community based approaches; and
3. To improve policies and implementation strategies to access water in informal settlements toward being pro-poor and gender responsive.
To support the Project, UN HABITAT is looking for the service of three Project Coordinators who will coordinate the project activities at provincial level. He/She will be responsible for the following key duties:
Under the overall guidance of the Project Manager:
- Liaise and Coordinate with stake holders for successful implementation of the Watsan BCC activities.
- Provide Technical support to local partners in developing, designing and implementing Watsan BCC activities.
- Organize and Facilitate events for capacity building stake holders in Watsan BCC.
- Development of IEC material for Watsan BCC.
- Documentation of success stories and process reporting.
- Designing instruments for baseline and onward data gathering, conduct analysis for measuring and reporting progress towards improved behaviours.
- Participate and contribute to capacity building and consultation workshops at national level.
Represent UN HABITAT at relevant forums.
Minimum 5 years experience in Watsan BCC, preferably in informal settlements.
Masters Degree in Public Health, Behavioral or Medical sciences, BCC related disciplines and/or Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with relevant experience.
Experience of developing and pretesting IEC material for Watsan BCC.
Excellent computer skills, experience of developing posters for Watsan BCC a plus.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Excellent Training and Facilitation Skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work independently and in team situations.
Excellent writing skills for reports and process/research documentation.
Excellent skills for Health and Gender related data gathering and analysis.
Gender Sensitivity and practical skills to mainstream Gender Equality and Equity in Watsan Projects.
